Description
Old bangle bracelet (I don't know how old) that appears to be either from Tibet or Nepal. It was my mother's, and she collected jewelry from this region. The hollow tubular beads are obviously handmade from silver (probably Tibetan silver) that polishs up nicely. Three of the four silver tubular beads have small bits of turquoise embedded in them. Each bead seems to have a slightly different repousse design with a general botanical theme, but someone familiar with the culture may know the symbolism. The silver tubular beads have a grid of silver inside to keep them in line (some of the grids inside are bent or missing but this doesn't detract from the exterior beauty of this bracelet.) The silver beads are each separated by three round carnelian beads. The beads are strung on a silver wire. I would say this bangle is small as I have trouble fitting it over my hand, but I do have large hands for a woman. The inside diameter is 2.5 inches and the outside diameter is 3.0 inches. The bracelet weighs 1.1 oz.
